What we make

Teams build forms in the visual builder, or through the REST API, the TypeScript and Python SDKs, the command-line tool or the MCP server. They collect and manage the responses in one workspace, and they handle the requests of people who want to see or delete what they sent. bettercollected runs hosted in the EU on bettercollected.com, or on your own servers: the source code is public under the Apache 2.0 licence.

A form asks people for something personal: their name, their date of birth, how they are doing. We think they should know who is asking, why, how long their answers are kept, whether AI reads them, and how to see what they sent and ask for it to be deleted.

Every bettercollected form tells them. It carries a privacy panel that says this in plain words, and what the panel says is what the product does: when a form has a retention period, its answers are deleted when it ends, and AI only reads answers when the workspace has switched AI on and AI insights are on for the form.

Four principles

  • Clear (Duidelijk): plain language at B1 level, with a plain-language check in the builder.
  • Private (Privé): hosted in the EU, a privacy panel on every form, retention periods that are enforced, and AI only when the workspace switches it on. Anonymous responses are stored without an email address. The link back to the respondent is a keyed hash, so knowing someone's address isn't enough to find their responses.
  • Accessible (Toegankelijk): forms built to WCAG 2.1 AA, for keyboard and screen-reader users, and working as well on a phone as on a computer. A form whose colours are hard to read can't be published.
  • Honest (Eerlijk): no dark patterns. Before a form can be published, the builder checks that nothing is chosen in advance, nobody gets stuck, every path has an ending and people can see who is asking.

Who it is for

Teams at organisations that collect personal data through forms and have to answer for it to their privacy officer, procurement and auditors. And the people who fill those forms in, mostly on a phone, often on the organisation's own domain.

How we work

  • Everything around the questions is in Dutch and English: buttons, messages and the privacy panel.
  • The source code is public under the Apache 2.0 licence, and organisations can run bettercollected on their own servers. The developer documentation covers the API, the SDKs and MCP.
  • We don't show testimonials, logos or certifications we don't have.
